CHILDREN’S DANCE:
Ages from 4 to 6.

The child must turn 4 at least by the end of the year.

The children’s dance class is an experience-based and all-encompassing introduction to the world of dancing. The students will learn the basics of dance through dancing, creating, and experiencing, whilst also learning the skills needed to act in a group. Positive experiences gained through dancing develop a positive self-image and self-expression.

The main elements of the children’s dance classes include joy, playfulness, creative exercises, and the use of child-oriented mental images. In addition to body awareness, the children will learn basic sports skills, such as jumps, balancing, and turns. The classes will develop the children’s knowledge of various body parts, as well as their body control and mobility, in addition to which the diverse exercises will promote the overall development of the children.

In the children’s dance classes, the children will also create short dance routines that develop their kinaesthetic memory and teach them the basics of dance technique.

4–6-year-olds have one 45-minute dance class, once a week.

Ruoholampi, Joutseno, Pontus and Taavetti units: children’s dance, 4–6-year-olds.
